Compassionate guidance
A listening ear and practical guidance from a charity created through lived experience of caring for a child in hospital.
When your child is in hospital, life can feel overwhelming. Routines disappear, expenses build and it can be difficult to know where to turn.
Amelia’s Light was created by a parent with lived experience. We understand how important it is to feel heard, supported and less alone.
We provide practical guidance, trusted signposting and compassionate support while working to expand the direct help available to hospital families.
You do not need to have all the answers before contacting us. Tell us what you are facing and we will listen with compassion, share useful guidance and help you explore relevant sources of support.
Amelia’s Light is here to help you find your next step. Practical financial assistance depends on eligibility, verification, available charitable funds and trustee approval, but we can still offer guidance and signposting.
Every hospital journey is different. Our support focuses on the practical and emotional pressures families often face while caring for a child in hospital.

Help identifying charities, hospital teams and specialist services that may be able to support your family.
Clear information to help with hospital stays, communication, wellbeing, family life and everyday challenges.
Our practical-support fund is being developed to help eligible families with meals, clothing, toiletries, laundry and other essential items.
We aim to reduce the cost of staying close through support with hospital parking, fuel and public transport.
We recognise that hospital stays affect parents, children and siblings. Our approach considers the needs of the whole family.
A hospital admission can create costs families never expected. Meals, parking, fuel, accommodation and everyday essentials can quickly place additional pressure on a household.
Amelia’s Light is building a practical-support fund designed to respond to these real needs with dignity, compassion and care.
Support should reflect what a family genuinely needs. Our approach is designed to give families practical choices while ensuring charitable funds are used fairly and responsibly.
The help available will depend on each family’s circumstances, eligibility and the funds available at the time.
Every contribution helps Amelia’s Light strengthen the practical support available to families during a child’s hospital stay.
