Licenses & Insurance

If hiring a venue, check if insurance is included in your fee.
Public events may require Public Liability Insurance.
Licenses may be needed for alcohol, music, or performances.

Health & Safety

Carry out a simple risk assessment before your event.
Plan for weather, equipment safety, and crowd sizes.
Ensure safety for children, pets, and vulnerable people.
Find guidance at the HSE or CIOF.

Public Collections

Get permission from your local council before collecting publicly.
Two unrelated people should count the money together.
Supermarkets and stations may ask for liability insurance.

Private Collections

You only need permission from the property owner.
Ideal for workplaces, homes, or schools.

Food Hygiene

Follow FSA guidance for safe handling.
Keep food clean, covered, cooked and clearly labelled.
List allergens visibly for your guests’ safety.

Raffles & Prize Draws

Raffles can raise amazing funds but check the rules!
See the Gambling Commission for guidance.
Incidental raffles (at events) are simplest to run.
Ask us for advice before printing tickets.

Data Protection

Store personal data securely.
Don’t keep info longer than needed.
